We are excited to announce the upcoming opening of Tamu Tamu Kogatende, our new camp in the northern part of Serengeti National Park.
After the success of Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp in Central and Ikoma Serengeti, we started looking for the right place for our next camp. We wanted a location that would give guests easy access to strong wildlife areas while keeping the comfort, food, service, and value that Tamu Tamu is known for.
After careful planning, we chose Kogatende.
This area is close to the Mara River, well placed for the Great Migration river crossings, and known for rich wildlife viewing. It allows guests to spend more time on safari and less time traveling between key areas.
A New Step for Tamu Tamu
We have officially broken ground on Tamu Tamu Kogatende.
The soft opening is planned for 10 June 2026, with bookings starting from 1 July 2026. This new camp will bring the trusted Tamu Tamu experience to the northern Serengeti.

The idea is simple. We want guests to stay in a place that feels close to the wild yet offers comfort after long game drives.
Why Kogatende Stood Out?
Kogatende is one of the best-known areas in northern Serengeti National Park. It is famous for its proximity to the Mara River, where migrating herds may gather during the river-crossing season.
The new camp location is about 40 minutes from the Mara River crossing points and about 20 minutes from the Tabora B Gate. This is important because safari time matters. The closer guests stay to key wildlife areas, the more time they can spend watching the plains, following guide updates, and waiting near the river when needed.
Kogatende also offers more than river access. The area has wide-open plains, good game-drive routes, beautiful views, and strong wildlife movement. Guests may see wildebeest, zebras, lions, elephants, giraffes, and many other animals throughout the northern Serengeti.
For us, the location made sense both emotionally and practically. It has the wild feeling guests want, and it also works well for smooth safari planning.
A Better Base for Migration Safaris
The Great Migration is one of the main reasons many guests travel to the northern Serengeti. During the crossing season, wildebeest and zebras move near the Mara River, and the days can be full of waiting, watching, and sudden action.
River crossings do not happen on a fixed schedule. Guests may need to start early, spend long hours near the river, or move with their guide based on wildlife activity. This is where a well-placed camp makes a clear difference.

The new Tamu Tamu Kogatende camp is located at:

It places guests close to the Mara River area, around 40 minutes from the crossing points and 20 minutes from Tabora B Gate.

We chose Kogatende because it gives guests what matters most on safari: a strong location, easy access to wildlife, comfort after long game drives, and a real connection to the Great Migration river crossings.
