Every safari brand grows through the places guests remember most. For Olerai Wilderness Collection, that story has already begun with two much-loved stays: Olerai Lodge Arusha and Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp.
One sits close to Arusha, offering travelers a calm, easy place to begin or end their Tanzania safari. The other places guests deep in the Serengeti, close to wildlife, migration movement, and the quiet thrill of the open plains.
Now, OWC Collections is preparing for its next step.
After the growing popularity of Olerai Lodge, Tanzania, and Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp, a new camp is coming soon to Northern Serengeti: Tamu Tamu Kogatende. It marks a fresh chapter for the collection, built around the same values guests already enjoy: strong locations, warm service, spacious stays, good food, and easy access to the best safari moments.
Olerai Lodge Arusha – A Calm Start Before the Safari Roads
For many travelers, a safari does not begin in the national park. It begins the moment they land, settle in, breathe properly, and feel ready for the journey ahead. That is where Olerai Lodge Arusha fits so well.

Set in the green outskirts of Arusha, the lodge gives guests a quiet break from the busy city while still staying close to important travel points. It is only about 15 minutes from Arusha Airport and around 1 hour 15 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport, making it a practical lodge near Arusha Airport for arrivals, departures, and safari connections.
It works beautifully as a pre-safari lodge in Arusha. Guests can arrive, rest, enjoy the gardens, and start the next morning without rushing. It also serves as a post-safari lodge in Tanzania, especially after long game drives, early mornings, dusty roads, and busy travel days. And yes, the road in can be a little bumpy. But in a way, that is part of the charm. A few shakes, a few laughs, and guests already feel like the safari mood has started.
Why Guests Love the Olerai Lodge Experience
The Olerai Lodge experience is not built around loud luxury. It is quieter than that. More grounded. More useful for real safari travelers.

Guests choose it because it gives them:
- Easy access from Arusha Airport
- A peaceful garden setting outside the city
- A comfortable place to rest before or after safari
- Beautiful views of Mount Meru in clear weather
- Possible Kilimanjaro views on lucky days
- Access to Arusha markets, coffee farms, and cultural centres
As a safari lodge near Arusha, Olerai Lodge offers that useful middle ground. It is close enough to the city when guests need movement, but far enough to feel calm.
The gardens add a soft, relaxing feel. Birds, greenery, open air, and slow mornings make it more than just a stopover. For guests looking for a garden lodge in Arusha or a nature lodge near Arusha, this setting is a big part of the stay.
There can also be small wildlife moments around the lodge. The wildlife at Olerai Lodge is not about dramatic game drives or Big Five sightings. It is about birds, quiet natural life, and the feeling of being close to Tanzania’s outdoor world before the main safari begins. For many guests, that gentle introduction is exactly what they need.
Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp – Location at the Center of the Safari Experience
If Olerai Lodge is the calm start, Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp is the wild centre of the story.
Located around 45 minutes from Seronera Airstrip, the camp sits in a tranquil and wildlife-rich area of the Serengeti. Its location is one of the main reasons guests and safari planners value it so much.

The camp gives travellers the best of both worlds. It is close enough to reach key Serengeti wildlife areas, but set away from the busiest spaces, giving guests more peace and privacy.
This balance matters. In the Serengeti, location can change the whole safari experience. A well-placed camp helps guests spend less time transferring and more time watching wildlife, following tracks, and enjoying the landscape.
At Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp, guests stay close to the action without feeling crowded.
Why Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp Became So Popular
The popularity of Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp comes from more than one thing. Yes, the location is a major reason. But the camp also gives guests a warm, comfortable, and intimate safari stay.

Travellers enjoy:
- A peaceful Serengeti setting
- Access to Seronera and nearby wildlife hotspots
- A wildlife-rich surrounding area
- A camp atmosphere that feels close to nature
- Great Migration movement through the region twice a year
- A strong balance of comfort, value, and location
The camp places guests near some of the Serengeti’s most rewarding wildlife areas. Seronera is known for year-round game viewing, big cats, and strong predator activity. Being within reach of this area gives guests a good chance of seeing classic Serengeti wildlife without feeling cut off from quieter landscapes.
The Great Migration also passes through this region twice a year, adding another reason travelers love the camp. When the herds move through, the whole area changes. The plains feel alive with movement, sound, and dust.
This is where Tanzania safari accommodation becomes more than a room. It becomes part of the experience.
OWC Collections and the Power of Strong Locations
Looking at both properties, one thing becomes clear: OWC Collections understands location.
Olerai Lodge Arusha works because it is close, calm, and convenient. It helps travelers begin or end their trip without stress.

Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp works because it places guests near the wildlife heart of the Serengeti while still giving them space and quiet.
Both properties are different, but they follow the same idea. A good safari stay should support the journey. It should make travel easier, bring guests closer to nature, and give them real comfort after long safari days.
That same thinking now leads to the next chapter: Tamu Tamu Kogatende.
Coming Soon – Tamu Tamu Kogatende in Northern Serengeti
OWC Collections has officially broken ground on its new Kogatende location.
After the success of Tamu Tamu in the Central and Ikoma Serengeti region, the collection is now moving north with a new camp near one of the most dramatic wildlife areas in Tanzania.
Tamu Tamu Kogatende is planned to bring the familiar strengths of Tamu Tamu into Northern Serengeti:
- Spacious rooms
- Great value
- Warm service
- Good food
- A strong safari location
- Easy access to river crossing areas
The camp will be positioned close to the Mara River region, placing guests near one of the most famous scenes of the Great Migration: the river crossings.
The location is expected to be around 40 minutes from the Mara River crossing points and about 20 minutes from the Tabora B Gate. For guests traveling during the northern migration season, this can be a major advantage.
Why Kogatende Matters for Safari Travelers
Kogatende is one of the key areas in Northern Serengeti for travelers hoping to experience the Great Migration river crossings. During the right season, large herds gather, move, wait, and cross the Mara River.
It is unpredictable. That is part of what makes it powerful.
That is why Tamu Tamu Kogatende feels like a natural next step for OWC Collections. The brand already has a strong Serengeti camp known for its location. The new camp extends that same idea to one of Tanzania’s most sought-after wildlife regions.
The soft opening is planned for 10 June 2026, with bookings starting from 1 July 2026.
A New Camp Built on Familiar Strengths
For guests and safari planners who already know Olerai Lodge and Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp, the new Kogatende camp brings something familiar but fresh.
It is not a completely different direction. It is an extension of what already works.
Olerai Lodge gives travelers a peaceful safari base near Arusha. Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp offers guests access to the central Serengeti’s wildlife and migration routes. Tamu Tamu Kogatende will now bring the collection closer to the northern migration action and the Mara River region.
Together, these three stays will create a stronger safari flow:
- Start at Olerai Lodge, Arusha, before heading into the parks
- Stay at Tamu Tamu Serengeti Camp for central Serengeti wildlife
- Continue to Tamu Tamu Kogatende for northern migration experiences
- Return to Olerai Lodge for a relaxed final night before flying out
This makes OWC Collections more useful for complete Tanzania safari planning. It gives travelers comfort at key points of the journey, from Arusha to the Serengeti plains and soon, to the northern migration route.
